Five is such a big age for our little girl! Lucy will start Kindergarten in the fall and everything else that comes with it. She is still feisty but shows a lot of love especially through drawing cards and pictures for her family. She is also very physical in showing her affection to EVERYONE! She loves to hug, kiss, and cuddle. She is also doesn’t have a shy bone in her body and will happily strike up a conversation with anybody. She is healthy and growing taller every day. We feel blessed she is part of our family!
We celebrated her birthday with a few of her preschool friends. There was no question that her birthday party wouldn’t revolve around Frozen. Almost all the girls came dressed in their frozen dresses and the boys were good sports.
The night before her party Seth and I embarked on making her “Elsa Cake.” The cake part would be baked in a bowl and then an Elsa doll would be shoved in the top and the skirt would be decorated to match the doll. We watched a “how to” video and felt confident it wouldn’t be too hard. We were so wrong!! After baking the cake for over an hour, I took it out of the oven thinking it had baked through. I let it cool and then attempted to dump it out of the bowl only to have blue goo explode on me and my kitchen floor. It was about midnight at this point so the only think Seth and I could do was laugh (goo pictured in above picture). Thankfully we had already baked a 9 inch round that would have been the base so we just turned that into her cake. It was not the vision but it worked and she was pleased. At her party, her friends pinned Olaf’s carrot on his body. They also decorated sparkly snowflakes and feasted on frozen themed food (reindeer food, Olaf’s noses, Anna’s summer bounty, and Kristoff’s ice chips). At the end I turned on the movie of Frozen and all the kids belted out “Let it Go!”
Lucy loved this coat she inherited from her friend Eve. She looked like a snow princess.
