Matthew celebrated his fifth birthday on Valentine’s Day! Really, what's not to love about having your birthday on Valentine’s day? He got to go to preschool and have a big party and then in the afternoon we had a few of his friends come over for a SIMPLE Valentine/Birthday party. In the evening we had homemade mac and cheese and he opened family presents. Other than the potty training torture we were still going through with Lucy, it was a great day!
Seth left for work before Matthew woke up but he left this behind for him! Seth’s biscuits are Matthew’s favorite breakfast! (Matthew had already grabbed a “T” when I took the picture).
This was our attempt to merge pirates and Valentines together!!
The lemon/chocolate cake was really good! Most of the kids opted for the Sam’s Club leftover valentine cupcakes so there was a ton left over.
He was excited about his new computer. Lucy received a baby laptop computer for Christmas and it quickly became Matthew’s favorite toy, now he has his very own to enjoy!
We love this kid and are grateful he is part of our family. Matthew is a child of extreme emotions. I have been led to read a few different parenting books to help navigate this boy but thankfully with his stubbornness we also have a very eager boy who wants to help anybody around him who is in distress. He has a wonderful sense of humor and a great imagination. His misses his brother throughout the day but stays busy with blocks, Trios, plastic animals, Krinkles, trains, and (above all), empty cardboard boxes. That’s right, he LOVES empty boxes and any time we receive a package his eyes light up in anticipation of what he is going to create with the box. He loves going to preschool with Mrs. Boyle and has a copious appetite. Happy FIFTH Birthday Matthew!
