Welcome to our "new blog." We have officially moved to Maryland and having more than one bathroom is truly as wonderful as we all imagined. We are also eager to get going on our list of "must sees" while we are living so close to our nations capital. Seth is working at the National Institute of Health (NIH) in Bethesda for 3-5 years so we have time to do it all. We love staying connected with family and friends through blogging so thanks for stopping by!

Charlie had to do a “gemstone” project at the end of 4th grade. They could pick whatever topic they wanted and he picked the Korean war. He also made an interesting sculpture in art class.

Kathryn and I took our little kids to the Baltimore Aquarium While the big kids were in school. We had a pass a few years ago but they have done a lot of renovating since then and it’s even better. You can touch a lot of animals now.

Hanging out at the Dolphin show. Dolphins have gained more rights in the last few years so they don’t perform many tricks. It was still fun to see them swim around but some high jumps would have been nice too.

Mrs Owan’s 2nd grade class. The last day of school ended up being a half day on a Monday. It didn’t really make a lot of sense but my kids still went. They were missing a lot of kids but we still got a picture.

A few weeks before school got out, Charlie’s class had an “Art Open House” for parents. Conrad and I went to check out his work. It was impressive. The downside of the experience was Conrad puking ALL OVER the floor and me two seconds after I took the above photos. We were out of there fast!!

We went back a few weeks later for class awards. Charlie received the “Most Expressive Reader” award, no surprise. I actually caught him reading during the awards presentation.

The Rockville Ward along with the Kensington Ward took part in a “Faith In God Camp.” It was three days of activities at the church (and outside the church). The kids had a great time!

One of the highlights for the boys was making and racing boats for the Rain Gutter Regatta.

I was in charge of the obstacle course. Of course 5 minutes after setting it all up, the clouds rolled in and it poured!!  We moved it all inside.

I purchased over 20 pool noodles from the dollar store to help in the obstacle course, the kids loved them!!

Happy 32nd Birthday and Happy Father’s Day!

We enjoyed the unique experience of sharing my birthday with Father’s Day. We just played all day.

I’m not sure if Seth’s cap gun topped the homemade headband Lucy made me from a leaf she found in our neighbors yard. 32 is going to be great!

I ran the St. Michaels Half marathon for the second time. The company, food, and scenery were amazing but the race itself was crummy. It was a random hot, humid day and I wasn’t used to it. Combining the weather with my lack luster training made for a 2:07 time. I felt great the first half of the race and did it in under an hour but then I fell apart for the second part (too bad I wasn’t running the 10k). I’m so thankful I finished and didn’t have to walk. Again, the highlight was hanging out with Sarah and Rebecca for the trip, such wonderful women.

We did a day trip to Cunningham falls. It’s a perfect combination with a short hike and then fresh water to play it. I wondered if it would be too cold but the kids didn’t feel it. Hopefully there will be many more outdoor adventures this summer.
